Sommelier Profile — Your personal tasting radar

Trinqo builds your tasting profile with every wine you rate: 6-axis tasting radar, palate signature and appellation map.

The Trinqo tasting radar measures six dimensions of your palate: acidity, tannins, alcohol, sweetness, aromatic intensity and complexity. Each axis is calculated from your structured tasting notes, on a scale of 1 to 5. This is not a knowledge test but a mirror of your actual preferences, as they emerge from your practice. A profile with a high acidity peak and low tannins reveals an affinity for crisp whites (Chablis, Sancerre, Riesling). A profile with high tannins and intensity typically corresponds to a Bordeaux classed growth or Barolo enthusiast. The profile refines itself with every recorded tasting.

What is a sommelier profile?

A sommelier profile is a visual and quantified representation of a taster's flavour preferences, built from analysing their tastings. Trinqo automatically calculates a radar on 6 axes (acidity, tannins, alcohol, sweetness, intensity, complexity) by cross-referencing structured notes from each recorded tasting. The more you taste, the more accurately your palate is represented.

The 6 Trinqo tasting radar axes

Simple, mono-note / Tres complexe, multiples couches

How does a sommelier profile evolve?

The profile is dynamically recalculated after each tasting. With 3 tastings, the first axes appear. From 10 tastings, the radar shape becomes representative. From 30 tastings, underlying trends (preference for crisp whites, powerful reds, complex wines) become readable. The profile is not fixed: a change in region or style is progressively reflected in the axes.

Profile types and examples

Tannic red lover

High tannins, strong alcohol, high intensity. Typical profile of a Bordeaux classed growth, Barolo or Cahors enthusiast. Common notes: dark fruits, spice, leather.

Crisp white fan

High acidity, no or very low tannins, low sweetness. Typical profile of a Chablis, Sancerre or Alsace Riesling lover. Common notes: lemon, green apple, mineral.

Sweet wine enthusiast

High sweetness, high acidity (balance), moderate intensity. Typical profile of a Sauternes, Vouvray moelleux or Riesling Auslese fan. Common notes: honey, candied apricot, beeswax.

Balanced profile

All axes in median values (2.5 to 3.5 out of 5). Profile of an eclectic taster, open to all styles. Explored appellation diversity is generally high.

Frequently asked questions about the sommelier profile

Is my sommelier profile publicly visible?
No. Your sommelier profile (tasting radar, palate signature, history) is private by default. Only tastings you explicitly share (via a share link) are accessible to others. Your radar and signature are visible to you only.
How many tastings are needed to activate the tasting radar?
The radar activates from 3 tastings with structured notes (colour, nose, palate). With fewer than 3 tastings, data is insufficient to calculate axes representatively. Profile reliability increases significantly after 10 tastings.
Can I edit or delete my sommelier profile?
Your profile is calculated automatically from your tastings. You cannot edit it manually (it is an objective representation of your notes). However, deleting tastings updates the profile. You can also delete your account from settings, which erases all data.
What is the 'palate signature'?
The palate signature is a short AI-generated text by Trinqo that summarises your taster style in one or two sentences. It identifies your dominant preferences (regions, grape varieties, styles) and your diversity level. It updates automatically after each new batch of tastings.
How are explored appellations calculated?
Trinqo extracts the appellation from each recorded tasting (appellation field in the wine record). Appellations are counted by frequency and dated. The appellation map shows the regions you have tasted the most and your geographical progression in the world of wine.
Does the sommelier profile work with beers or spirits?
Trinqo supports beers, champagnes and spirits for tasting records. The tasting radar and palate signature are currently calculated only from wine tastings. Beers and spirits feed the history and statistics but not the 6 radar axes.

The sommelier profile is not fixed. It evolves with every new recorded tasting, reflecting changes in style, region and preference over time. A taster who explores new appellations will see their profile broaden progressively. The palate signature, automatically generated by Trinqo, translates these trends into a text description. Exploring your own preferences methodically is the first step towards more conscious and precise tasting.
